S-Pro Series SPD
The S-Pro Series ultra-slim signal surge protective device is a high-performance, intrinsically safe surge protection solution purpose-built to safeguard critical industrial control systems and field instrumentation from destructive voltage surges, transient spikes, and operational overvoltage events. Designed for industrial automation system integrators, process manufacturing operators, and control room engineering teams, this instrument IO surge protection SPD delivers reliable protection for both field-side devices and control room DCS/PLC I/O systems, with industry-leading hazardous area certifications to support deployment in the most demanding industrial environments. Its compact, space-optimized design and flexible configuration make it the ideal choice for dense cabinet installations where space is at a premium, without compromising on surge suppression performance.
At just 7.6mm wide, the DIN rail mount signal surge protector features an ultra-slim housing that drastically reduces cabinet footprint, enabling high-density installation in crowded control panels without sacrificing protection capabilities. This design is optimized for modern DCS and PLC systems with high channel counts, maximizing available cabinet space for additional equipment.
The SPD offers dual grounding options via DIN rail or terminal connections, delivering unmatched adaptability across diverse industrial wiring setups. It is fully compatible with 2-wire and 3-wire field instrument systems, supporting a wide range of signal types without compromising signal integrity.
With surge protection capacity up to 40kA, the intrinsically safe surge protective device holds Ex ia IIC T4-T6 Ga certification, making it suitable for use in Zone 0/1/2 hazardous areas. It incorporates a multi-stage coordinated protection circuit, combining gas discharge tubes and TVS diodes for reliable, high-energy surge mitigation, with built-in fault indication and remote monitoring interfaces for simplified maintenance.
Boasting a leakage current of <1μA and a 10MHz bandwidth (-0.5dB), the SPD ensures minimal impact on signal accuracy and transmission speed, making it ideal for high-precision analog and digital industrial signals.

The S-Pro Series signal SPD is engineered for use across a wide range of industrial sectors, including chemical processing, oil and gas, power generation, pharmaceutical manufacturing, water and wastewater treatment, and food and beverage production. It is ideal for protecting 4-20mA analog signal surge protection devices, pressure and level transmitters, valve positioners, electromagnetic flowmeters, proximity switches, frequency signals, RTDs, thermocouples, communication equipment, and control room SPD for DCS PLC IO systems.
The SPD is designed for quick DIN rail mounting in standard industrial control cabinets. Ensure correct wiring polarity at all times, as reverse connection will eliminate surge protection capabilities. Match the SPD model to the rated operating voltage of the protected circuit, and connect the grounding terminal to a low-impedance system ground via either the DIN rail or dedicated grounding terminal.
During normal operation, the SPD operates passively with no impact on signal transmission. Monitor the integrated fault indicator to confirm operational status, with remote alarm contacts available for centralized monitoring in the control room.
The modular design enables tool-free replacement of individual SPD units without disrupting system operation. Conduct quarterly inspections to verify tight wiring connections, intact grounding, and normal fault indicator status, with full functional testing recommended annually during scheduled plant shutdowns.
For power supply applications, select the P-Series 24VDC SPD. For signal applications: S-5-L(D)3 models are designed for signals up to 5VDC (e.g., RTDs, thermocouples); S-24-L(D)3 models are ideal for 24VDC-rated devices including transmitters, valve positioners, 4-20mA analog signals, and DCS/PLC I/O channels.
No. Reverse connection will disable the multi-stage coordinated protection circuit, causing the device to lose all surge protection capabilities. Always follow the wiring diagram provided to ensure correct polarity during installation.
