It is ideal for protecting field-mounted pressure transmitters, electromagnetic flowmeters, level transmitters, valve positioners, and other critical 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire field instruments exposed to outdoor lightning hazards.
Mount the SPD directly to a spare threaded cable entry port on the protected field instrument using the compatible threaded adapter. Connect the SPD terminals in parallel with the instrument’s signal cables, ensuring a low-impedance ground connection to the instrument’s earth terminal or local plant ground. No modifications to existing instrument wiring or process shutdown are required for standard installations.
The SPD operates passively with no external power supply required, delivering continuous surge protection during normal instrument operation. Its fully sealed design requires no active monitoring during routine operation, with no impact on instrument signal transmission or measurement accuracy.
The IP67-sealed design requires minimal routine maintenance. Conduct bi-annual inspections to verify the integrity of the stainless steel housing, tightness of mounting connections, and continuity of the ground path. In the event of a major lightning event, replace the SPD unit with a new module to ensure ongoing protection, with no need to recalibrate or reconfigure the protected instrument.
